In the Private Reserve of Agolada the Baixo, doves are only shot in good years, when the number of birds and the habitat conditions allow. Because this is a migratory species, it is necessary to secure and to contribute for the stability of the population, for which we worry in creating conditions of refuge and food, so that the birds look for this estate.
This shooting is practiced in groups from 8 to 10 hunters, who acquire the right of hunting in a defined area, where there are marked positions that each one must occupy. Shooting journeys start at 7 am, and end about 9 am, in order to allow birds to find peace and quiet when they’re drinking hour arrives.
Given the reduced number of shooting journeys, interested hunters must contact Nature in Action in advance.
